Best-Practice Procedures for Handling Employee Terminations and Departures
This sample policy contains guidelines and procedures organizations should follow during the employee termination process.
In this sample, the president/CEO of the company is involved in any decision to involuntarily terminate any senior manager who reports to the company; senior authority (key management personnel, inside director or executive officer) is notified if an employee leaves the company; finance is notified if a separation agreement and general release are issued in connection with a termination; finance is contacted immediately following the employee notification; and the employee’s departure date is communicated to the human resources administrator.
