The purpose of this sample audit work program is to understand and evaluate the freight management process, which includes reviewing process performance measures, process effectiveness and efficiency, and contract terms and management.
One of the keys to starting this audit is to conduct interviews with process users to gain an understanding of the current shipping process. During the interview, inquire about the following: shipment requests, the transportation procurement process, carrier pick-up, shipment monitoring, the receiving/inspection process and the freight bill payment process.
